SLM offers solutions for 3D objects made from the finest metal powders. The selective laser melting process directly produces homogeneous metal objects from 3D CAD data by selectively melting fine layers of metal powder with a laser beam.
The SLM®280 - Selective Laser Melting machine has a process chamber of 280 x 280 x 365 mm and patented multi-beam laser technology that is optimized for production. During the build-up process of up to two chamber lasers, the optimal quantity for mid-range machines, the build-up field is made visible via 3D scanning optics.

Based on the corporate identity study we made sketches to come up with a unique form.
The design and styling of the machine focus on the dynamic character of the machine and place special importance on the in- and outputs of the machine itself.
Even though SLM’s branding can be recognized, the machine still should have its own unique identity. The integrated status lights and interface panels are examples of the many details that give the machine a high-end look and feel.
Engineering and prototyping
After refining the concept design, we made engineering drawings to build a prototype. This prototype of the covering can be checked with all technical requirements and details. The prototype was built in close cooperation with a sheet metal specialist in Germany.
